Drinkwater backed for Euro 2016 England spot by former Three Lions coach

first_imgDanny Drinkwater is being backed to force his way into the England squad for Euro 2016.The uncapped midfielder has been one of the heroes of Leicester’s stunning title charge and, according to former Foxes boss Peter Taylor, he will be firmly on the radar of Roy Hodgson.Taylor, whose varied career has included a spell as Three Lions caretaker manager, told talkSPORT: “He has been brought up the right way at Manchester United.“He is a very, very good player and at the end of the season if you have got good players that have still got good energy, which I’m sure that boy will have, then he has got to be a contender [for Euro 2016 selection].”Danny Murphy, co-host on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast on Monday, is also backing Drinkwater to force his way into Hodgson’s plans.“He makes the squad for me at the moment,” said the ex-England midfielder. “He has got more than just legs and good work ethic.”last_img
