Army maul Pepsi Hornets 41 – 10

first_imgTHE Guyana Defence Force (GDF), playing in their first match of the Bounty Farm 15s tournament, made their presence felt with a 41 – 10 drubbing of Pepsi Hornets yesterday at the National Park.Hornets went into the game hyped after beating the youthful Panthers 36 – 26, but against the ‘Army’, it meant that, Ryan Gonsalves, and, Blaise Bailey, would’ve had to find an extra gear if they wanted a chance to compete.However, the GDF, Guyana’s most physical rugby team, came out and raced to a 15 – 3 half-time score, thanks to tries from Cloyd Prowell, Dwayne Schroeder and winger Patrick King. With GDF controlling the pace of the game, Gonsalves could’ve only manage to make good of a penalty.GDF’s Dwayne Schroeder on his way to scoring a try against Pepsi Hornets during their 41 – 10 win on Sunday.The GDF picked up where they left off in the second half, and with Rodwell Hudson joining King and Prowell on the ‘try line’, as the Army boys literally had their way with the Pepsi Hornets’ defence.Schroeder scored two conversions, while Prowell had one. Rickford Cummings scored the lone try of the game for the Hornets, while Gonsalves scored the conversion.Meanwhile, the tournament will continue next weekend, as the Hornets will be looking to bounce back against the Guyana Police Force (GPF) Falcons, and the GDF facing off with ‘the upstarts’ Panthers.last_img
